Seth Swafford, 31, is passionate about making the arts accessible in the Midwest. President of music retailer Palen Music Center Inc., his team of 250 people at 10 locations partners with more than 500 middle and high schools to provide instrument rentals and supports Palen’s nonprofit It’s About Kids to ensure access for underserved students.
“Engaging with our neighbors through music reminds me that we aren’t just a retail business,” he says, “we are a vital part of the community’s cultural landscape, and that is a responsibility I am honored to carry.”
Swafford is vice president of the Springfield Little Theatre’s Board of Directors and chair of its Development Committee; volunteer for the Dickerson Park Zoo; and member of The Network’s Leadership Council and Rotary Club of Springfield Sunrise.
