Editor’s Note: Welcome to Office Envy.
This time of year is a period for reflection and renewal. The four offices featured in this special edition of Springfield Business Journal have been down that road recently, and in the pages that follow, we’ll show you the results.
For this eighth installment of the annual Office Envy series, the SBJ newsroom toured the renovated office spaces of a local credit union, a regional philanthropic foundation, a global professional services firm and an interior furnishings designer.
While their missions are vastly different, their efforts to revamp their new and existing office spaces all started around meeting the needs and desires of their employees, clients and partners. This design phase takes a lot of reflection. Who do we want to be? How do we want to function? What do we want the space to feel like?
Then comes the renewal, which brings with it the tabs of spreadsheets to track progress and the milelong list of decisions from flooring to finishings. This phase takes a while and can be a little messy.
But then we enter the final phase, the reveal. The results of that reflection and renewal are on the pages that follow, and I imagine you’ll be as impressed as I am with the work these teams did to create beautiful spaces.
We spend a lot of time in our workplaces. Hats off to these companies for investing in spaces that enhance the function of their teams through excellent form.
