As the eldest daughter with seven younger siblings, Camber Jones got an early start on distinguishing herself.
She graduated summa cum laude with an undergraduate degree from Westminster University in Utah, earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania and practices law in banking and finance.
“In early 2024, I was promoted to of counsel in my firm’s Banking and Financial Services practice group, a historically male-dominated sector,” says Jones of her position at Spencer Fane LLP. “I represent my clients in all aspects of bankruptcy and related litigation. I have established myself as a collaborative leader with multifaceted strengths, but I have most notably strived to embody the soft attributes I recognize in the best leaders I’ve personally worked with – compassion, empathy and a humble attitude.”
After a few years working in Los Angeles, the Utah native in 2018 moved to Springfield to join Spencer Fane, where Jones consistently makes herself available to junior associates and attorneys early in their career. And because she works in a segment of law with fewer women, Jones is committed to advancing women in the legal and business communities.
“Last September, I organized, hosted and served as a featured speaker at the firm’s inaugural Women ADVOCATE EmpowerHer Summit, a two-day series of programming which covered valuable professional topics, including workplace empathy, navigating conflicts and strategies for boardroom achievement,” she says. “This critical work with EmpowerHer led to my official role as a member of the Women ADVOCATE Leadership Committee, where I help facilitate Women ADVOCATE’s mission to promote the recruitment, retention and advancement of professionals in the firm.”
Jones is a member of The Missouri Bar, and she’s written on insolvency issues for the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal. Last year, she was an American Bankruptcy Institute 40 Under 40 honoree, and she’s been recognized by Best Lawyers in America. Also in 2024, Jones was one of two Spencer Fane attorneys to accept the Healthcare/Life Sciences Deal of the Year at the M&A Advisor’s 18th Annual Turnaround Awards.
“We managed to turn what was originally planned to be a shutdown and fire sale liquidation into a going concern sale of substantially all the debtor’s assets,” Jones says. “My work in this bankruptcy case was one of the pinnacles of my career so far.”
She is on the board of the Lost & Found Grief Center, where she was part of the effort to make the nonprofit’s 2024 fundraiser one of the most successful.
“I feel driven to contribute my time and talents to organizations that make our community and the people in it better.”
