There are few things Mel Martz, 30, enjoys more than watching and helping others succeed. As director of expansion for Little Sunshine’s Playhouse & Preschool, she has done just that. Through Martz’ expansion efforts, she has had the opportunity to recruit, hire and train new program directors across the country, while also mentoring and developing leadership talent within the organization.
Shaped by her experiences growing up, Martz has a strong sense of leadership that she has been able to demonstrate in meaningful ways at Little Sunshine’s. In her current role, she has opened 15 locations, marking a total of 39 locations across the nation – a feat that showcases her ability to lead even the biggest of projects with purpose and a strong work ethic. Martz volunteers weekly at the Springfield Dream Center.

Under construction beside the existing Republic branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library District – which remains in operation throughout the project – is a new building that will double the size of the original, according to library officials.
