YOUR BUSINESS AUTHORITY
Springfield, MO
Risk management and damage prevention are the name of the game for Heath Silvey.
In his seven years working at City Utilities of Springfield, Silvey rose the ranks from a risk manager to directing the department and overseeing the property insurance program – and its $2.5 billion in assets. Now, Silvey’s managing insurance procurement and claims administration in a new job as an account executive for Aon LLC.
Those who’ve worked with Silvey, 38, call him an “enterprise leader.” That’s exemplified in his position as the risk management chair of the American Public Power Association 2022 Business & Finance Conference, as well as appointments to the Missouri One Call Systems Board of Directors and The Network Leadership Council.
What did you learn the hard way? You have to be willing to give up control and trust others to do their jobs, or you can’t succeed at your own.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Stop pouring energy into your weaknesses; just get good enough at them to get by. Pour your energy into your strengths; they are your real opportunity to succeed.
Favorite hobby or creative outlet? Riding four wheelers with my kids on the Silvey Family Farm.
Favorite local order? Soup of the day and a chopped salad from Big Momma’s.
I worked with Heath at City Utilities and in the time he worked here, he gained the respect of the operation folks that worked for him and took leadership of damage prevention during the SpringNet Expansion Project. He did a fantastic job for us and we miss him but wish him the best at his new opportunity.
