Then: News Anchor, KOLR-TV
Now: CEO, Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks

Joe Daues has gone from sitting behind the television news desk to standing in front of a million-dollar nonprofit. There were a few stops in between – an entrepreneur, salesman and production director.

In mid-2019, Daues shifted into the nonprofit world, taking the CEO reins of Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks. The job wasn’t handed to him. Daues was selected among 160 applicants.

“I’m a big believer that there’s a long, crooked road that takes you right where you need to go,” he told Springfield Business Journal in December. “I had no doubt that I could really add a good perspective and bring something new to the table for BCFO.”

One such move is a unique partnership with a Missouri State University sorority focused on breast cancer awareness. Daues recently told sbjLive BCFO has asked the sorority to produce a creative video for social media, to tap into a younger audience.

“Those kinds of partnerships and groups are really where we’re headed,” he says, “instead of just saying, stuff some envelopes or just stand here for this running event. That’s the goal.”
