About a year ago, Dwayne Fulk moved from a nearly 25-year career in private law to the public counsel side. He joined City Utilities in December 2017.
The transition started a decade earlier, meeting CU General Manager Scott Miller on an airplane during a Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Visit to Wisconsin.
“We hit it off,” Fulk says, and the next thing he knows, he’s serving on the CU Citizens’ Advisory Council.
“I learned a lot,” he says of the three-year stint. “It went from a 3 percent renewable to 30 percent renewable. The changes in the industry were very intriguing.”
Fulk’s resume lists Neale & Newman, Polsinelli and Lathrop Gage, serving as a partner/shareholder in each. He still works in corporate transactions, litigation and reviews, but he says the environment is different: “As a private attorney, I was always asked if this was legal. In this role, I’m asked if it’s right.”
The Courageous Church is growing its footprint with the addition of a new East Campus, made possible through a merger with the former Eastern Gate Free Will Baptist Church.
