The back of the building utilizes the former Hotel Sterling French doors, which once overlooked Park Central East, to separate office space, as well as wood trim from the former hotel to hide exposed piping and to display awards.

A Hidden Nook

Tucked above the conference room, a loft office space for two employees has a living room vibe with a couch, chairs and glass coffee table.

“It’s a modern office in an old industrial space, but there’s little pockets where it’s definitely casual and homey,” Creative Director Patrick McWhirt says.

Employee Fuel

A Rocket espresso machine is the lifeblood of employees. Bruce Adib-Yazdi, vice president of development, fills up a couple of cups.

Going Up

The one-of-a-kind conference table is made from the operating guts of an elevator from the McDaniel Building with a gear from the Hotel Sterling. The conference room also features an abstract version of the company’s logo, a greater than symbol, and the company’s mantra: The Gut Check.

Company Footprint

The illustration on the glass surrounding cubicle space is a line art design of developments across the country by The Vecino Group. It was designed in-house by McWhirt and illustrated by Steve Krone.

Personal Space

The creative office in the back of the facility shows character from the exposed brick walls and a touch of individuality with McWhirt’s stack of Marshall amplifiers and guitar rack in the corner.

Architect and Design: Wells and Scaletty LLC

A blend of antique and modern design makes up The Vecino Group’s Commercial Street office, where the company moved in 2012. The space was the former home of a vending company roughly 60 years ago. On the outside of the building, the company’s motto “Do Good” can be seen in the east side courtyard. For a company specializing in affordable housing, their office feels like a craftsman’s house with a decorative lobby and repurposed items from iconic Springfield structures.
