Laura Elliott went from whiskey to beer and back again.
Two stints at Big Whiskey’s Concepts LLC were split between two years as director of sales and marketing at Mother’s Brewing Co LLC. She rejoined Big Whiskey’s as marketing director in 2017 and now is the company’s youngest and only female executive.
Fittingly, her proudest accomplishment also involves alcohol.
Elliott was helping lead efforts to draft a city ordinance allowing alcohol sales and consumption on Park Central Square for events.
“It has opened the door for so many organizations to host lively events downtown, which I believe significantly contributes to the thriving center city community,” she says.
What about your job would shock clients? The amount of food that Big Whiskey’s donates.
What is your best productivity hack? The web application Evernote. It’s incredible for keeping notes organized, saving links and creating quick, sharable presentations.
What did you learn the hard way? If you want something, ask for it. Working hard for something is only half the challenge. You have to be willing to speak up and make sure your voice and intentions are heard.
What historical figure do you identify with most? Katharine Hepburn. My favorite Katharine Hepburn quote is: “If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.” It is a great mantra for how I like to approach life.
