After the Great Recession, the United States may have finally reached a breakthrough, according to the latest figures released from the Department of Labor.

Over 2.95 million jobs were created last year alone. More than 200,000 jobs were added every month in 2014 except two. December was especially strong with 252,000 positions added to the workforce.

In December, the unemployment rate fell to 5.6 percent, a decrease from 5.8 percent in November - a major improvement compared to a December 2013 rate of 6.7 percent.

According to CNNMoney’s economists, the unemployment rate is expected to hit 5.2 percent, around the normal level, by the end of the year.
