Mission: The Library Foundation promotes charitable giving in support of a strong and innovative Springfield-Greene County Library District.

Service Area: Greene County, 10 Library Branches:  Ash Grove, Fair Grove, Republic, Springfield (5 locations), Strafford and Willard.

Funding: Individual and business donations, corporate gifts, foundation grants and special events are the basis of The Library Foundation's funding.
Funding emphasis over the next two to three years will be on acquiring donations for the renovation of the Brentwood Branch Library. Naming opportunities are available to major gift donors in the Brentwood Capital Campaign. Friends and family members also may consider making memorial or tribute gifts to honor their loved ones, through which books are purchased and placed into the Library's collections with a special nameplate inside. Donors with special interests (early literacy or outreach, for example) may be interested in establishing a named endowment fund.

12-month Goals:
1) Launch a $2.5 million capital campaign for the purpose of renovating the Brentwood Branch Library. 2) Generate new sources of income for Library Foundation endowments. 3) Expand funding opportunities through the use of social media.

Annual Events:
The Library Foundation will host an "Author's Gala" in the early spring of 2014.  Other events will be held throughout the Brentwood Capital Campaign.  Sponsors and volunteers are welcome to participate in all our events.

How People and Businesses Can Help:
By making a contribution or providing a sponsorship to the Library Foundation, individuals and business help ensure that Springfield-Greene County Library District has the crucial resources needed to better serve and enrich the public.  Private gifts can transform and inspire the entire community by making cutting-edge technology accessible to someone looking for a job or starting a business, or by bringing story-time to a child every week.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Individuals are encouraged to volunteer as board and committee members and to help organize and carry out special events.  Donations in kind, partnerships and sponsorships from area businesses help support various educational and cultural programming events throughout the year, such as popular Civil War lectures, "Big Read" author events and Summer Reading Programs.

Testimonials:
"We are truly blessed in Springfield and Greene County to have such a strong Library District.  The strong leadership, great facilities, creativity and responsiveness, both in programs and locations, make our Library one of the jewels of southwest Missouri." Brian Fogle, President and CEO, Community Foundation of the Ozarks
