Mission Statement:
Our programs guide and direct youth from all backgrounds with special concern for those from at-risk circumstances. Social, physical and educational development activities teach youth the values of life, strengthen their self esteem and make them better citizens of our community.

Service Area:
Springfield and the surrounding communities.

Funding:
Boys & Girls Clubs receives support through United Way, Sertoma Clubs as well as many businesses, civic organizations, foundations and individuals. Our long-standing stability in the community has built many friendships with those who support our youth.

12-month Goals:
Feasibility study to determine the need and ability to expand to the southwest area of Springfield. Continue to grow and enhance the current mental health program in partnership with Forest Institute where members receive free counseling right at the Boys & Girls Clubs. Focus on the “Great Futures Now” campaign as aligned with our Strategic Plan. This endowment campaign has a goal of $10 million. Recruit and maintain mentors for our Mission to Mentor program. Celebrate 75 years of “Helping Kids Be Great” and look forward to the next 75 years.

Annual Events:
Our signature event in the community is our Steak & Steak Dinner which is held in April each year.  This event highlights a sports celebrity and with the five-year commitment of sponsorship by Mercy Springfield Communities, we will look forward to announcing the speaker for 2014.  We also host a golf tournament at Twin Oaks Country Club in May and our Non-Celebrity Dinner at Coyote’s Downtown in November.

How People and Business Can Help:
Donations to the One Campaign help run our day-to-day operations.  Tax credits are often available. Think of the Boys & Girls Clubs and futures of our youth when you are preparing doing your estate planning.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteer at one of our three Boys & Girls Clubs Units.  Enjoy time with a youth in the games room, arts & crafts, music and dance, gym or technology center. Be a mentor!  Dedicate one hour a week to be a friend, companion and mentor to one of our youth who really need you.

Testimonials:
“I have had the great pleasure the last few years of serving on their Program Committee.  This opportunity of service has given me a great insight into what they really do for our youth and families within our community.  We are truly blessed to have an organization that offers and continues to develop these types of programs for youth and families that offer a safe place to learn, play and develop.”
–Brad Shelton, Deputy Juvenile Officer,

“The Boys & Girls Clubs has been instrumental in my grandchildren’s lives.  Without them, they would be left to their own devices after school and would have to walk home in a not-so-safe neighborhood along busy streets.  They are fed dinner on the nights that my daughter and her husband are at school.  The Club has meant all the difference in the world to me and my grandkids.”
–Marquita Davenport, Club Grandparent
