What tools does the company use to recruit and retain staff? “CoxHealth has implemented recognition initiatives such as simple hand-written thank you notes sent to employee homes by senior leaders; spot awards for behaviors that exemplify our core values; national Daisy awards for registered nurses; bi-monthly recognition luncheons for employees who make special efforts to help patients and their fellow employees; and annual Prestigious Partners awards that send the best of our team to weekend getaways in Branson for truly exceptional service.
We believe great service is dependent on celebrating the great work of our organizational stars. Last fall we featured a 100 ways You Make Us Great celebration recognizing individual, departmental and organizational achievements at CoxHealth and paying each employee a $100 net celebration award. This fall we celebrated the addition of Cox Medical Center Branson to the CoxHealth family by moving our annual fall fest to Silver Dollar City ,where more than 15,000 CoxHealth employees and family members enjoyed a day away from work. On Nov. 11, we honored our employees and their loved ones who have or are serving in our nation’s armed services.”
To what extent does the company share its financials with the staff? “We have complete transparency regarding financial performance. Our daily census, a key volume indicator, is posted daily in our online newsletter, Connect Daily. Monthly financial reports from our chief financial officer to leaders are posted for all employees to review on our website – both a summary and the detailed PowerPoint slides. Financial performance is also discussed by department leaders in departmental meetings.”
Work vs. life – how does your company help employees strike a balance between the two? “Work in health care with high-stakes, stressful jobs in a 24/7 environment can take a toll. Our organization offers many full-time and part-time schedule choices to help employees balance work and family. Our on-site child care facilities are ideal for working moms. We offer onsite fitness facilities – including an expanding number of micro-gyms to allow employees access to fitness. We also offer discounts to some area entertainment venues to make date nights a little less expensive. For employees who cannot get away from patient floors to get a break – we bring the coffee cart to them.”[[In-content Ad]]
