Mission Statement
The mission of the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks (WCO) is to preserve and improve the water supplies of Springfield and Greene County through education and effective management of the region’s watersheds.  The Watershed Center, a project of the WCO, focuses on water protection through education.

Service Area
WCO serves Springfield and Greene County, along with parts of Polk and Webster Counties that contribute to the water supply.

Funding
For 28 years, the WCO has been sponsored by the City of Springfield, Greene County, and City Utilities in the interest of clean water.  Sponsor funding is vital, as are grants and donations for specific water quality and education projects like the Watershed Center.

12-month Goals
1) Increase endowment funds for long term sustainability
2) Increase facility rentals at the Watershed Center
3) Increase area school field trips to the Watershed Center   
4) Raise watershed awareness by participating in relevant community events  
5) Maintain and implement urban stormwater improvement grant to protect local water quality.

How People and Businesses Can Help
•    Rent the LEED Certified, C.W. Titus Education Facility and/or Lakeside Pavilion for meetings, retreats, and events
•    Learn about the WCO and our local water resources with our interactive website
•    Visit the Watershed Center at Valley Water Mill Park for a hike, nature walk, bird watching, fishing or field trip
•    Conserve water at home and at work
•    Give to the Watershed Committee by donating to our endowment fund, become a sustaining donor, or donate an item on our Watershed Center Wish List


Volunteer Opportunities
Whether you are interested in water sampling, educating students, building trails, stream and lake clean-ups, or indoor chores, we will find something that fits you.
