President/CEO G. Colby Mace answers SBJ’s questions:
How would you describe your company’s culture? As having a team-oriented can-do culture. We do not have problems; we have opportunities.
How is health reform affecting your company’s benefits? There are several changes taking effect Jan. 1, including covering adult children up to age 26. Lifetime maximum benefits under all medical plan options will be eliminated, and employees or dependents who previously lost medical coverage due to reaching the lifetime maximum benefit can re-enroll for coverage, and over-the-counter drugs will require a doctor’s prescription to be eligible for reimbursement from health care flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
Beyond financial compensation, what benefits are most important to your staff? Insurance is a major value for our employees. Flex time and working environment would be very high on everyone’s list. We also have company lunches, free fruit for healthy eating, flu shots and company picnics.
Give us some examples of how your benefits package has evolved to meet work-force needs. Because we are now a Siemens company, we have enhanced our benefits with dental, vision, life and disability in addition to our previously offered group health coverage.
How does your company support professional development? Through a tuition reimbursement program and free online training with a wide variety of topics.
What intangible perks make your company a great place to work? We promote a cooperative team environment. We are more interested in looking forward for solutions than looking back for who’s to blame.
What makes your company a family-friendly employer? Company picnics and events such as Bring Your Child to Work Day.
Just for Fun If there were no limitations – budget or otherwise – what benefit would you begin offering employees tomorrow? Company lunches every day, and more flexible work schedules, including working from home.[[In-content Ad]]
