For the employees of JMark Business Solutions, a slow day without any major client computer problems is a good day.

But considering the growth of the computer technology and information service provider, the last few years have not brought a lot of slow days. Since 2008, the company has more than doubled its staff to 30.

"Our goal is to be a technology and business adviser to our clients," said Tom Douglas, president and majority owner of JMark. "We don't want to be just a company that fixes computers - we want to provide technology that helps our customers remain profitable by increasing reliability, functionality and efficiency," he added.

Much of JMark's growth has come from the 2008 acquisitions of NetWorks Inc. and NetManage Inc. JMark posted 2008 revenues of $5 million, according to its award application.

Douglas said one upshot of those acquisitions was the addition of a full-time sales force - something the company hadn't had in the past.

Douglas points to the company's proactive approach to computer management and round-the-clock network monitoring as keys to success, adding that growth in the company's client list is largely due to word of mouth.

"When you provide honest services to people and you care about their future and their business, and you treat people right, your business is going to grow," he said.

And that the growth is not done. Douglas plans to add 10 to 15 employees in the next year, though they will likely be in service, and not sales.

"As we bring on new clients, the level of service we require remains pretty high, so we'll need a certain number of technicians available to meet those clients," he said.
