2009 40 Under 40 Honoree: Eric Rogers

Posted online
Eric Rogers is on a mission to help reduce rates of hospitalization, mortality and expenditures for long-term care facilities.

As the managing partner of American Mobile X-Ray LLC, which he launched in 2008, Rogers works to make life better for clients. He is also an active advocate for the radiology profession.

"More and more, we are seeing crowded nursing homes that are burdened by sharp Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement cuts," he says.

"By developing a new company, American Mobile X-Ray LLC, I hope to provide quality digital imaging services to nursing homes for the early detection and treatment of pathologies."

Rogers graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in radiography from Missouri State University and has a certificate in radiography from CoxHealth School of Radiologic Technology, a two-year program. Rogers is now a candidate for a master's degree in education from Drury University, and he expects to graduate in May.

He began his professional career as a staff technologist before becoming an instructor and academic adviser at CoxHealth School of Radiologic Technology.

"Influencing the success of others was my greatest concern as a radiology educator at CoxHealth," Rogers says. "I felt that the litmus test of my abilities and potential was reflected in the success of my students. In light of this success, I was recognized as the top radiology educator in the United States in 2008."

Rogers considers his time at CoxHealth as "rooted in civic affairs."

"Our services impacted the lives of everyone in the Ozarks and provided affordable, undeniable healthcare," he says.

"Medical access is a growing concern in the United States and headlines the media almost daily."

Rogers has held many roles in both the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and Missouri Society of Radiologic Technologists, of which he is president-elect. Last year, Rogers was one of three people across the country to receive the national society's Monster Medical Imaging Educator's Scholarship.

Rogers is involved with Riverside Road Church of Christ, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and Special Olympics.

One of Rogers' most fulfilling accomplishments, however, involved his medical and faith-based efforts in unstable regions of Luzon, Philippines.

"The language of medicine is universal and transcends all barriers; (it is) a lesson I will not soon forget," he says.
