State Rep. Bob Dixon is proud of his legislative and professional achievements.
As a relationship manager with Heartland Payment Systems Inc., he continues to bring in new clients. As a member of the Missouri House of Representatives, he has worked to serve his constituents.
These are not his only aspirations.
"As I approach 40 and contemplate the things that really matter in one's effort to leave the world a little better than we found it and leave a lasting, positive impact on a community, my thoughts turn toward home," he says.
Dixon and his wife, Amanda, have three daughters: Grace, 14; Rose, 12; and Olivia, 6.
"We are attempting to raise the girls to be strong, influential women who will be leaders in whatever they choose to do," Dixon says.
"Seeing that goal begin to come to fruition even now in their school and social relationships has caused my heart to skip a few beats."
If he's teaching by example, he has some successes to share.
At Heartland, a merchant transaction and payroll processing company, Dixon was named one of the top salespeople out of nearly 1,200 employees nationwide. He has spoken at area sales development meetings on ensuring quality customer service and customer retention.
As a legislator, he has served as chairman of the majority caucus for two terms, is currently chairman of the House Transportation Committee, and has filled the role of chaplain.
In his second term, the Missouri Federation of Pachyderm Clubs recognized Dixon as Outstanding Legislator of the Year for his "demonstrated excellence in constituent services."
"In both business and civic arenas, I have long been committed to being accessible to others because this promotes the sincere communication necessary for successfully influencing and helping others," Dixon says. "I am committed to helping people succeed in meeting their own goals."
In addition to his legislative and professional responsibilities, Dixon serves on the Association of Evangel University Family and Friends Executive Council and the Healthy Community Task Force for the Greene County Medical Society.
He also is a member of other community organizations, including the James River Basin Partnership and the Springfield branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
"In whatever I do, I always attempt to be the best at it and to give it my all," Dixon adds.
