Rob Marsh became the youngest member of the executive team at RPCS Inc. when he was 32, but he continues to work toward both his personal goals and his goals for the corporation.
RPCS Inc. is the parent company of 33 Ramey, Price Cutter, Price Cutter Plus and Smitty’s grocery stores in Missouri, 20 retail pharmacies, one Save-A-Lot grocery store in Arkansas, seven in-store Starbucks kiosks, three in-store restaurants and online grocery shopping and delivery services.
“I live and breathe my job,” said Marsh, who is the director of planning and development, advertising and marketing. “I have passion for my job, and it shows in the technological advances I have implemented and am in the process of launching so that our company can offer our customers what no other store in the area offers.”
Projects under way include pay-by-touch technology and self check-out.
Marsh once requested a step down on the career ladder, managing one store instead of serving as a companywide supervisor in order to prepare himself for a long-term career.
“The year that I spent managing one of our stores gave me a clear sense of direction, provided me with a keen eye for consumer preferences, taught me how to provide a pleasant shopping experience for our customers and showed me the importance (of) maintaining an open line of communication between the corporate offices and the store-level staff,” Marsh said.
In 2005, he was named one of Supermarket News Magazine’s 5 Rising Stars.
“To be recognized by those in your own industry, who know the ups and downs and the daily operations of the business, is truly an honor, especially at such a young age,” he said.
Marsh and his wife, Janelle, have been married seven years. They have a son, Christian, 3, and a daughter, Bella, who was born in April.
