Carter Peters holds three job titles at Guaranty Bank – executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief operations officer.
His responsibilities encompass oversight of several areas of the bank, including corporate finance, operations, marketing, human resources and information technology.
“I work very closely with the company’s board of directors in setting long-term goals, strategic planning and evaluating merger and acquisition activity,” he said.
Peters said that one of his proudest professional moments was in 1994, when he passed the certified public accountant exam on the first try.
“This was a big accomplishment because of the hard work and numerous hours of studying involved,” said Peters, who joined Guaranty Bank’s leadership team in 2005.
These days, Peters’ short-term goals include continuing to make a name for Guaranty Bank.
“The bank is over 90 years old, but I feel that the community still doesn’t know who we are,” Peters said, noting that a long-term goal is to assume an increased leadership role in statewide banking associations.
Peters gives his time to community organizations such as Families for Children, serves as a youth soccer coach and teaches at his church, East Sunshine Church of Christ.
He is careful to balance his professional and personal endeavors, particularly so he can devote enough time to his family. He and his wife, Keri, have been married for nearly 14 years and have two children, Katelin, 11, and Zachary, 4.
“Living a well-balanced life is the primary goal, where I’ve seen so many others struggle,” he said. “I learned from my parents that work is important, but not the most important. I want to be able to say that I have a strong marriage and have raised two children who understand the important things in life.”
