According to Don Stephens, director of planning and development for the city of Branson, there are several key projects under way that will keep Branson's growth strong in 2003. Among those projects are a lakefront entertainment district, downtown convention center, Celebration City theme park and the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum.|ret||ret||tab|
"Confidence about Branson's economic future remains high," Stephens said. |ret||ret||tab|
Other major projects permitted in Branson in 2002 included a strip shopping mall on Green Mountain Drive, a medical office building on Highway 248 for Skaggs Community Health Center and renovation of the White House Theater on Gretna Road, making it a dinner theater.|ret||ret||tab|
More than 48 percent, or $29.1 million, of new construction in Branson during 2002 has been timeshare condominiums. |ret||ret||tab|
Stephens said that he sees that trend continuing because Branson is one of the top five popular destinations for timeshare vacationers.|ret||ret||tab|
Also, according to research by the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, timeshares account for about 700,000 visitors to Branson each year. |ret||ret||tab|
