Two Alaska health care workers experienced allergic reactions after taking Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, state officials said yesterday.
One employee "showed signs of an anaphylactic reaction, with increased heartbeat, shortness of breath and skin rash and redness." The worker was stabilized with treatment.
The other employee had a less serious allergic reaction.
At the Alaska hospital, 144 staff members had been vaccinated as of yesterday evening.
Dr. Jay Butler, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's deputy director for infectious diseases, said the allergic reactions in Alaska are the only ones that have been recorded nationwide.
