It's a sign of the 1990s. Only in the '90s would the First Lady of the United States, who comes from Arkansas, plan to run for the U.S. Senate seat in New York. Hardly a peep has been uttered about carpetbagging. If this weren't the 1990s, some surely would ask: "Why New York? Why not Utah, Delaware or, heaven forbid, Arkansas?" I sort of thought one resides in a place, then runs for office to represent it, not the other way around. Not in the '90s.
Perhaps the defining symbol of the '90s is the war, if that's what it's called, that the United States and its NATO allies waged for 78 days against Yugoslavian President Slobodan Milosevic, an indicted war criminal. It's pretty hard to take someone named Slobodan seriously. A Slobodan surely must be the class nerd. He has to be taken very seriously
