16 Years Old, $1.7M in Revenue: Max hits it big as a pandemic reseller

His name is Max Hayden and when he’s not studying high school math, he’s exploiting the online resale market for goods made scarce during the pandemic.

The tech-savvy teenager profited $110,000 last year on revenues of $1.7 million,, according to the 16-year-old’s sales records reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

And he’s not alone. The resale market has heated up on Amazon, Facebook and other online markets as such items as patio heaters, Pokémon trading cards and video game consoles are in high demand yet low supply.

“This is capitalism,” Max’s father told the journal.
