Fifteen states are dropping their opposition to a controversial bankruptcy plan filed by Oxycontin-maker Purdue Pharma.
The settlement plan calls for $4.2 billion in restitution. However, it would shelter members of the Sackler family, who own Purdue Pharma, from future lawsuits.
Massachusetts and New York were among the states that sought to block the plan.
