110 MU faculty members to retire under buyout program

At the University of Missouri-Columbia, 110 faculty members will take a buyout, freeing up about $17 million in budgeted salaries and benefits.

According to the Columbia Missourian, about 42 percent of eligible faculty members were approved for the buyout, which requires them to retire.

Some rehires will occur, but the number hasn't been decided.
