Ten-year-old brokerage Greater Springfield, Realtors has changed its name, with territory expansion plans in the works.

The real estate firm owned by Justin Sturdefant is now called Sturdy Real Estate, according to a news release.

"From early on, we realized that we wanted to become an agent-centered brokerage," Sturdefant said in the release. "We knew if we can shape and educate our agents to become the best agents with the mentality of, 'ego is about who is right, truth is about what is right,' that will translate into the best experience for our clients and community."

The name change comes as Sturdy Real Estate seeks to expand beyond its current service area in Springfield and Greene, Christian, Taney, Webster and Wright counties. Company officials are looking to serve customers in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Sturdefant said via email the company currently has 22 real estate agents, who mostly deal in residential sales, with about 5% of listings coming from commercial properties. He said the company last year recorded 176 transactions and $35.2 million in gross sales.
