The original 1 Million Cups celebrated its second anniversary in Kansas City by welcoming back its first presenters, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
The entrepreneur-driven program, aka 1MC, grew out of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and now has a presence in 32 cities, including Springfield, which launched earlier this year.
The inaugural presenters who made a return this week were Kirk Hasenzahl of RareWire LLC and Mike Farmer of Leap.It LLC. The meetings at the Kauffman Foundation in KC often attract upwards of 200 guests, according to the business journal.
For Springfield’s launch Feb. 26, nearly 150 businesspeople crammed the eFactory conference room to hear 6-minute presentations by 1MC co-organizer and serial entrepreneur Rick Thomas and CrowdIt.com co-founder Jason Graf. The weekly presentations are followed by 20-minute question-and-answer sessions that informs as much as it challenges the entrepreneurs at the front of the room.
