Lakeland Behavioral Health System renovation and addition
440 S. Market Ave.
Ireland Architects Inc. is the project architect on a renovation and addition to Lakeland Behavioral Health System. Officials say the project includes an upgrade to the psychiatric hospital’s security and mechanical system. The design calls for a covered outdoor area and playground surrounded by high-security fencing, a revamped main entrance and reception area with enhanced security, and an enclosed ambulance bay to help secure the transporting of patients. Base Construction & Management LLC is the general contractor, and engineering work is by Heithaus Engineering & Associates Inc., civil; J&M Engineering LLC, structural; and RTM Engineering Consultants LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The project is expected to be complete in September.
Plaza Shopping Center gained an arcade with the March 1 opening of The Flying Lap LLC; the repurposing of space operated by Burrell Behavioral Health resulted in the March 18 opening of the company’s second autism center; and a group of downtown business owners teamed up to reopen J.O.B. Public House.
