Whether it was working with young, eager minds exploring careers in health care at CoxHealth or leading seasoned professionals at Abacus CPAs LLC, Jennifer Pyck has dedicated her career in human resources to help drive the growth and success of those around her.

“My ability to see the true potential in others has been a cornerstone of my leadership style,” Pyck says. “I go beyond surface-level assessments and identify strengths and abilities that individuals may not even recognize in themselves.”

Pyck says building trust is a critical factor to her success.

“By building and maintaining trust with those around me, both professionally and in the community, I have been able to create an environment where people feel comfortable taking guidance and advice from me,” she says.

Currently, Pyck works as a human resources consultant at Higgenbotham Insurance Agency Inc., where she acts as an internal HR business partner and collaborates with the Texas-based company’s HR department. Working in the HR field means often delivering tough messages.

“I strive to approach difficult conversations with empathy and sincerity, ensuring that my feedback is well received and contributes to positive change,” she says.

Personally and professionally, Pyck has an appetite for continued learning and community involvement, which began early in her career while she was working for CoxHealth in the Center for Professional Development.

“Embracing continuous education and development has allowed me to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, equipping me to make informed decisions and guide my HR initiatives effectively,” she says.

In 2020, she completed a master’s degree in management and leadership from Western Governors University.

“It was a dream degree for me, and I felt empowered as a woman to accomplish it while working full time and all online,” she says. “The journey demanded discipline, dedication and drive, and I am grateful for having achieved it.”

In addition to constantly learning, Pyck has also started a LinkedIn blog, “Pyck’s Leadership Takes,” where she publishes biweekly articles to over 350 subscribers. “Sharing knowledge is powerful and helping others brings me a lot of joy,” she says.

Outside the office, Pyck dedicates time to volunteer work. She is an active board member for Springfield Catholic Schools, helping raise over $500,000 during the school’s fall fundraiser. She also served on the arts committee for 2023’s Celebrate Springfield event and has been a food distribution volunteer for Ozarks Food Harvest Inc. since 2021.

“Engaging in volunteer leadership and civic affairs has not only allowed me to make a positive impact on the community but has also provided ample opportunities for personal growth and learning,” Pyck says. “Through my involvement, I have continuously challenged myself, acquired new skills and broadened my horizons.”
