Angie says she’s learned personally and professionally that it’s OK to be uncomfortable, because that means growth is happening. “You never know what that can lead to.”

Leadership Style

I don’t take making decisions lightly; they impact the future and impact much down the road. I take a step back and think through it. I learn from my kids – be patient and understand the why of the decision. Don’t punish mistakes but learn from them – there is always a lesson. My leadership style is very collaborative. I am a servant leader and am empathetic to others with an entrepreneurial spirit; I love to explore new ideas!

On Personal Development

Ever since I was little girl, my Mom said I always wanted to be the boss. At some point I must have been intrigued with the idea of leading and guiding a group of people. I love to gather ideas and collaborate with others to make decisions. I was shy as a child, and built my confidence in college. I went to Missouri State University and was a member of Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sorority. My sorority sisters helped me build confidence and taught me that you don’t have to change who you are to get respect. That was a game changer for me. They are still my support system today!

Mentors

My Mom and Dad. No challenge was ever too big. If we had a problem, we were not the victim; we found a solution. My Grandma was a widow of a veteran and raised four kids and faced adversity but always found a way to make life fun. My husband Ryan is my biggest supporter and will always be there for me to grow my career; we’ve been married 17 years with two kids.

Advice

Be a resource to others; guide and teach, know your teams individual strengths. Get out of your own way! Lead as you and allow yourself to be uncomfortable; that means growth is happening and you never know what that can lead to Don’t be afraid to fail; you learn your limits that way, I believe there are three things you need to be successful:
1. Have the skills.
2. Have the resources.
3. Have the desire to want to do it.

Civic & Professional Involvement

I’m passionate about youth sports – it builds confidence, team development and social skills in kids. Those are life skills that will be invaluable as they grow into adulthood. We are also supporters of animal rescues. We couldn’t live without our two rescue pups. We are their FUR-ever home. I am not set on just one charity or cause; if I see the need and it pulls at my heartstrings I go after it. I will always be passionate about the venue management industry. For the International Association of Venue Management, I serve on the foundation board, which raises funds for scholarships, advocacy efforts, continuing education, and industry resources for our members. Through the International Association of Venue Managers I have been able to make contacts and friends from all over the world. I am excited to bring my experience to Branson and Southwest Missouri.
