Route 66 Car Museum
Springfield businessman Guy Mace on June 15 opened the Route 66 Car Museum with 69 vehicles in his 20,000-square-foot garage at 1634 W. College St. The senior partner of Baron Venture Capital LLC has collected cars since 1990, and said a few factors caused him to open the collection to public viewing. “I thought it might be appropriate to open it while I’m still young and can enjoy it,” said Mace, who is 74. “The push from the city to promote Route 66 really put me over the top. This is on 66 and will be a nice attraction for the tourists coming through town.” Mace said highlights of the collection include a Gotham Cruiser from the 1966-68 “Batman” television series, the original truck from the 1940 film “ The Grapes of Wrath” – now restored as a rally car – and a 1936 Horch. General admission to the museum is $15, while seniors and veterans pay $13 and children under 10 are $5. Hours: 10 a.m.– 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 861-8004

Emerson Park Apothecary
Michael Doss on May 6 started Emerson Park Apothecary from his Springfield home. Doss, who also works as a regional manager for Mount Vernon-based specialty chemical company Flexo Shine, manufactures and packages masculine scented men’s grooming products made with vitamins and all-natural ingredients. Emerson Park soaps, beard oils and beard balms are sold locally at Grayson Home, Honky Tonk Clothing Co. and Just For Him. Doss said products also are sold online, through a pharmacy in Osawatomie, Kan., and they’re soon to appear in MaMa Jean’s Natural Market stores. Prices are $10 for soaps, $18 for beard oils and $22 for beard balms. Doss, the sole employee, said he is working to add laundry detergent, body wash and shampoo lines. Hours: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (918) 500-6227. Web: ShopEmersonPark.com

Hollister Farm To Table Market
Organized under Sundries Market LLC, Justine Stewart started the Hollister Farm To Table Market on June 2 at 118 Symington Place in Hollister. The private, for-profit market has cooperative management with the city of Hollister and a board of local farmers, Stewart said. Operating on donated land from Anne Symington of Foggy River Realty LLC, she said the market has space for 40 outdoor booths and 16 indoor within a 4,000-square-foot building, formerly Turkey Creek Feed & Farm Supply. About 45 current vendors, including Brittain Farms and Tri-Lakes Orchards LLC, operate on a rotating basis, she said. Vendors pay a one-time membership fee of $5, plus 5 percent of daily sales. The seasonal market is scheduled to operate through Oct. 29. Hours: 3–7 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday. Phone: (417) 527-5958. Web: SundriesMarketLLC.wix.com/FarmToTableMarket
