Attorney Cory Collins made quick work of climbing the ranks at Husch Blackwell LLP, becoming a partner in 2009 – just seven years after joining the firm.
“I accomplished that goal well ahead of the average time frame for invitation to partnership,” says Collins.
His professional efforts are focused on business law and litigation.
“My advice and analysis is often sought by clients in a wide array of business decisions as well as potential business opportunities,” Collins says. “I have tried cases to judges and juries and have received many favorable results for my clients through the years.” Most recently, Collins was recognized by Missouri Lawyers Weekly for obtaining a judgment of approximately $225,000 for his client in a breach of contract case. He also was named a Rising Star in the 2011 edition of Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers, an honor reserved for no more than 2.5 percent of Missouri attorneys who are younger than 40.
As the hiring chairman for Husch Blackwell’s Springfield office, Collins recruits new associates and helps them acclimate to working in the firm. “I work to set an example for my associates and provide leadership to them as they grow, learn and develop into great lawyers,” he says.
Collins also acts as a mentor to two Husch Blackwell associates, interacting with them daily in the workplace and serving as a resource for guidance when there are questions or concerns.
With civic involvement that includes board spots with the Friends of the Zoo and the Mizzou Alumni Association, Collins extends his leadership outside of the office into the community.
Since 2004, he has been a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, serving on the director’s staff. His work with that organization is focused on helping children with specific health needs via providing care, supporting research and educational programs. “Children up to the age of 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment at no financial obligation to patients or families,” Collins says. “I am also very proud of the research Shriners Hospitals undertakes to discover new knowledge that drastically improves the quality of care and quality of life of children and families.”
