On her résumé, Holly Beadle describes herself as a resourceful problem-solver who thrives on challenges and the opportunity to make a difference.
Beadle’s professional and community endeavors indicate that’s an apt description. Her volunteer efforts have targeted homelessness and hunger throughout the Ozarks, and especially in Nixa and Christian County.
As vice president of finance for Junior League of Springfield, she works behalf of the organization to raise and manage funding that enables the league to alleviate community issues such as child abuse and neglect.
Though Beadle has worked as a teacher for Springfield Public Schools, her efforts now are focused in the civic arena.
In 2011, Beadle was one of the youngest recipients of the Gift of Time Award, recognizing her many hours of work for JLS and the Nixa Education Foundation. She also was one of the younger recipients of the annual Nixa Public Schools Volunteer of the Year Award, recognizing her work with the foundation and her efforts to help design and implement an outdoor garden classroom for the Nixa Early Learning Center.
“Everyone has something to give,” Beadle says. “It could be time, talents or other resources. I believe that most everyone would like to make a positive impact on the world around them. Sometimes they just need the right opportunity to make that happen or simply need to be asked.”
As a driving force behind the Christian County Homeless Alliance, Beadle, the group’s chairwoman, is working to create a summer meal program to reach students in Nixa and Ozark.
“We know that if a child is homeless, there is a good chance they are hungry, and they will not have access to the two meals a day they receive when school is in session,” Beadle says. “We are also working to establish a resource fair for the county in the fall that will connect those in need with the providers.”
Beadle recently worked to amend Junior League’s bylaws and policies to increase the organization’s effectiveness and enhance management of its funds. She supports the nine members of the league’s finance council.
In the fall, she volunteered many hours at The Plaid Door Resale Boutique, a JLS fundraiser, amid a transitional period for staff. During that time, she recruited, hired and trained new staff, and worked to improve the store.
“I worked with several teams of league volunteers in various areas … including updates of internal controls, employee handbooks, organization of back-stock and improving communication procedures (and) pricing, appearance and selection of merchandise on the sales floor,” she says.
