CFO's Give Ozarks campaign crosses $560K mark by mid-day

Forget Cinco de Mayo and May Day.

Community Foundation of the Ozarks is celebrating Give Ozarks today as a way for its nonprofit partner agencies to raise funds and awareness online.

As of 11:50 a.m., GiveOzarks.org - a website using CFO’s crowdfunding portal Cause Momentum - had raised $563,643 with over 12 hours to go in the campaign. The 24-hour event launched at midnight.

“The goal is to raise awareness of philanthropy and the important role nonprofits play in serving community needs through this collaborative community fundraising event. We also hope to introduce more people to online giving,” CFO officials wrote in a news release.

The largest fundraising campaign this morning belonged to Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch Inc., a Christian residential treatment program for at-risk male children. As of 11:50 a.m., the Lampe-based nonprofit’s campaign had raised $44,558 through 60 gifts.

Campaign totals are expected to be released by 5 p.m. May 8, according to the release.

CFO also set up a hashtag on Twitter, #GiveOzarks, to raise awareness for the campaign.
