National Guard activated in Missouri

Gov. Eric Greitens yesterday activated the Missouri National Guard following heavy rains over the weekend.

According to Greitens, emergency personnel performed 111 evacuations and 136 rescue operations. At least three people have been confirmed dead.

Greitens' activation of the National Guard came a day after he declared a state of emergency.

He said officials expect “major new flooding” in the Gasconade, Mississippi and Meramec rivers.
