UK orders six-month block on Fox-Sky deal

The government of the United Kingdom has delayed by six months Rupert Murdoch's $15 billion planned takeover of Sky TV.

Karen Bradley, the country's culture secretary, said she asked regulators to examine the proposed purchase by 21st Century Fox for antitrust concerns.

With the review in place, the Fox-Sky deal would not be completed before March 2018, if at all.

"I must then come to a final decision on whether or not the merger can proceed, including any conditions that will apply in order to do so," Bradley said in a statement.
