Uber suspends self-driving car testing after pedestrian death

Uber has suspended self-driving car testing in Tempe, Arizona, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Toronto.

The move follows an accident Sunday night when an autonomous car operated by Uber struck and killed a pedestrian in Tempe. The car had an emergency backup driver behind the wheel.

According to The New York Times, the incident is believed to be the first pedestrian death associated with self-driving technology.
