The Springfield Public Schools Board of Education this week named a new president as candidates selected by voters on April 4 were sworn into office.
At the board's April 11 meeting, Danielle Kincaid was elected president and Scott Crise was voted in as vice president. The votes were both 4-3, said SPS spokesperson Teresa Bledsoe.
Kincaid, partner at The Elder Law Group LLC, and Crise, manager of gas plant operations for Associated Electric Cooperative Inc., were elected to the board during the April 2021 election.
As president, Kincaid succeeds Denise Fredrick, who did not run for reelection.
As vice president, Crise succeeds board member Dr. Maryam Mohammadkhani, who was removed with a 4-3 vote in February, according to past reporting. Board members in favor of Mohammadkhani's removal from the leadership role cited her actions to disrupt a session of the Youth Empowerment Summit, a conference for high school students, at Missouri State University.
At the board meeting this week, newcomer Judy Brunner and incumbent Shurita Thomas-Tate were sworn in by Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller after their wins at the polls on April 4.
Moseley’s Discount Office Products was purchased; Side Chick opened in Branson; and the Springfield franchise store of NoBaked Cookie Dough changed ownership.
Danielle Kincaid was a smart choice for president of the R-12 school board. She will do an excellent job!
