Republican Scott secures Florida US Senate seat after recount

After a hand recount of ballots, outgoing Florida Gov. Rick Scott was declared the winner of a U.S. Senate race.

He defeats incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson, giving Republicans control of both of Florida's Senate seats. That's the first time Republicans have held both Florida Senate seats since the 19th century.

Scott narrowly won with 50.05 percent of the votes.
