The Maples Health and Rehabilitation opened a $14 million, 100-bed skilled nursing center Sept. 17 at 610 W. Sunset St. Owned and developed by Allen Kilgore of Christian Health Care, the 55,000-square-foot center replaced an East Primrose Street property leased from CoxHealth. Maples Administrator John Miller said the move reassigns $30,000 in monthly rent toward mortgage payments. With 78 current residents, he said services provided by some 140 employees are split between rehabilitation and long-term care. Rehab patients typically return home within 30 days, and rates range from $175 to $225 per day. The Maples is among nine Christian Health Care centers in southwest Missouri, including properties in Lebanon, Hermitage and Nevada, Miller said. Mr. Noodle
Longtime friends Shawn Wang and Jeremy Yuan opened Mr. Noodle on Aug. 1 at 3050 S. National Ave., Ste. 108, the former home of Planet Sub. Wang said he and Yuan grew up in northern China and both moved to America several years ago to study – Wang to New York and Yuan to Springfield. After graduating last summer from Missouri State University’s MBA program, chef Yuan called Wang, a personal banker for Chase in NYC, about opening a restaurant in Springfield. They borrowed $50,000 from family members and signed a three-year lease for $2,300 a month for Mr. Noodle. With seating for 48, the restaurant serves a variety of noodle dishes, from pad Thai to macaroni and cheese, Wang said. They employ another chef and three cashiers. Tri-State Truck Center Inc.
Memphis, Tenn.-based Tri-State Truck Center Inc. acquired the assets of Southwest Missouri Truck Center for an undisclosed amount Oct. 1. The Mack and Volvo dealership, founded by St. Louisan Bob Schilli, operates in Springfield and Joplin, Tri-State President Jim Maddox said. The purchase adds a 45-employee heavy-duty truck dealership at 2527 N. Eastgate Ave., as well as a 20-employee Joplin site to Tri-State Truck’s portfolio. With the acquisition, Tri-State expects to add $25 million in annual revenue to its nine branches; two dealerships are in Arkansas, three in Mississippi and two in Tennessee.
