Open for Business: TelComm Credit Union

Posted online

TelComm Credit Union
More than 15 years after opening its Nixa branch, TelComm Credit Union relocated May 1 to 1564 N. Main St. The move from its former branch at 338 N. Massey Blvd. came roughly five months after the credit union closed on the purchase of the Main Street building from Stoneridge Flooring Design for an undisclosed price. Lori Johnson Murawski, chief experience officer with TelComm, said the flooring company used the building for office space, noting the 2,640-square-foot facility previously had been branches for Peoples Bank of the Ozarks and Southern Bank. The credit union worked with Federal Protection Inc. on renovations at the branch, which includes three drive-thru lanes, a fourth lane for an ATM, as well as office space and five teller stations. Branch Manager Debby Jordan leads the five-employee staff. In addition to Nixa, the Springfield-based credit union founded in 1940 has four branches in the Queen City and one in Republic, according to its website.

Deli Mike’s
Springfield gained another sandwich shop with the June 7 opening of Deli Mike’s at 2040 S. Glenstone Ave. Spokesperson Mike Hickman said the venture is owned by his longtime partner Kelsey Strahl and their 12-year-old daughter, Zoey Hickman. Hickman, who occasionally has sold deli sandwiches at his two locations of Missouri Mike’s BBQ & More, said his plate was too full running his other business pursuits to open the shop. However, Strahl, who also works in the accounting department at M.D. Hickman Auto & Tire – another Hickman-owned business – was ready to take on the challenge, he added. He declined to disclose startup costs or lease terms with landlords John and Johnson Tan for the 1,400-square-foot, three-employee shop. Hot and cold sandwiches are on the menu at Deli Mike’s, including options such as Italian beef, Cuban, beef gyro, tuna salad and pastrami. Pizzas made on either naan bread or cauliflower crust also are served, as are salads and sides, including loaded potato salad and coleslaw. Sandwich prices range $8-$14.
