Springfield-based OMB Bank yesterday traded a 4-year-old modular banking facility in Carthage for a newly constructed full-service branch.

The 3,900 square-foot branch was built on the same parcel, 535 W. Fir Road, and it includes drive-thru and ATM services, according to a news release. Constructed by Williams Construction Co. and designed by Buxton Kubick Dodd Design Collective, officials say it also has offices for retail bankers and commercial lenders, a teller transaction line and an employee conference room.

OMB President and CEO Mark Harrington said in the release it’s a big step for the bank after entering the Carthage market with a loan production office in 2018.

“We think OMB customers are really going to like the new look and added space at our Carthage branch,” he said, “and look forward to elevating the community bank experience they’ve enjoyed the past five years.”

The branch, which is its only in the Joplin market, employs 12, said bank spokesperson Ryan Bowling, who declined to disclose the construction cost. OMB’s website lists eight branch locations, including Carthage, and two loan centers in Springfield and Lenexa, Kansas.

In the Springfield market, OMB moved up a spot in the latest deposit market share report by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. It’s now No. 7 in the five-county Springfield metropolitan statistical area with $897.9 million in deposits, representing a 5.7% share of the market, as of the June 30 report.

OMB holds a 2.4% share of the Joplin market, with $96.5 million in deposits, according to FDIC data.

The bank was recognized earlier this year for fast growth in Springfield Business Journal’s Dynamic Dozen awards. OMB ranked No. 10, with three-year revenue growth of 63% to $39.4 million in 2022. It’s also grown the employee count, by 66% between 2000 and 2022, for 178 staff members on board.
