Musgrave Foundation to distribute $425K in grants

The Musgrave Foundation plans to award $425,000 in grants to 55 organizations at a Dec. 12 ceremony.

According to a news release, the Musgrave Foundation has awarded more than $15.7 in grants since it was founded in 1983. Grants are awarded in four categories: child and senior services; health care and education; poverty, hunger and homelessness; and arts and community betterment. The benefiting charities are mostly in Greene County and surrounding counties in southern Missouri.

The ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at Hickory Hills Country Club,.

The benefiting organizations, by donation amount, are:
    •    Lighthouse Child & Family Development Center — $129,000;
    •    Community Foundation of the Ozarks — $30,000;
    •    Council of Churches/Crosslines — $30,000;
    •    CoxHealth Foundation — $18,000;
    •    Community Partnership of the Ozarks — $17,600;
    •    Southwest Baptist University — $16,000;
    •    Ozarks Technical Community College Foundation — $15,000;
    •    Friends of the Garden — $15,000;
    •    Ozarks Food Harvest — $13,000;
    •    Springfield Regional Arts Council — $11,000;
    •    American Red Cross of Southern Missouri — $10,000;
    •    Drury University — $9,000;
    •    Springfield Community Center Inc. — $8,000;
    •    Care to Learn — $8,000;
    •    I Pour Life — $6,000;
    •    Cents of Pride — $5,000;
    •    Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield — $4,800;
    •    Camp Barnabas Foundation — $4,400;
    •    Great Circle — $4,000;
    •    Caring Place — $4,000;
    •    Women in Need of the Ozarks Inc. — $4,000;
    •    Southwest Center for Independent Living — $4,000;
    •    Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri — $3,200;
    •    Southern Webster County Food Pantry — $3,000;
    •    Isabel’s House — $3,000;
    •    The Kitchen Inc. — $3,000;
    •    Springfield Victory Mission — $2,500;
    •    Diaper Bank of the Ozarks — $2,500;

    •    Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church — $1,000;
    •    History Museum on the Square — $1,000;
    •    CASA of Southwest Missouri — $800; and
    •    Good Dads Inc. — $500.


In August, the Musgrave Foundation also awarded $100,000 to food assistance nonprofits Council of Churches/Crosslines, Salvation Army of Springfield, The Kitchen, Springfield Victory Mission and Convoy of Hope.

The Springfield-based Musgrave Foundation was founded in 1983 by Jeannette Musgrave using an inheritance from her husband's family oil leases in Oklahoma and Texas.
