Mother's unveils 2 new concepts

Posted online

Mother's Brewing Co. is unveiling two new concepts in back-to-back weeks.

Monday is the planned official launch for Cufflink Coffee, a shop located on the east side of the 215 S. Grant Ave. Mother's campus, said co-owner Jeff Seifried. The opening comes around a week after the debut of Mama’s Home Terminal Tavern by Mother's Brewing Co. at the Springfield-Branson National Airport, he said.

At Cufflink Coffee, open 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. seven days a week, Mother's plans to serve coffee sourced from partners Mudhouse Coffee and The Coffee Ethic, as well as coffee-infused beers like Imperial Grind Black and bakery items such as German waffles.

Seifried said the venture represents an "opportunity for folks to engage with Mother's in a different venue, in a different place, with a different product."

The name pays homage to Mother's founder and former owner Jeff Schrag's nationwide cufflink wholesale business.

"This particular space used to be the operations area and storage area for the No. 1 cufflink business in America," Seifried said.

He declined to estimate the cost of renovations, which include a new deck visible from Grant Avenue. Overflow seating for the 800-square-foot coffee shop is available at the Mother’s BarrelHouse event space.

At the airport, the area near gate 10 is home to the new Mama’s Home Terminal Tavern, Seifried said. Mother's is partnering with Tailwind Concessions, the food and beverage operator of the airport, on the branded bar, he said. The tavern has views of the airport's runways.

"Mother's has a long-standing relationship with the Springfield-Branson National Airport and their operator Tailwinds," Seifried said, noting Mother's beer was sold at the airport previously, but the branded bar area is new.

The airport has two bars, with Mother's on tap at both, he said.

"We made the investment on the branding and marketing side to bring the Mama’s Home Terminal Tavern to life," Seifried said, declining to disclose financials.

Seifried and his wife, Lindsay, bought Mother's from Schrag in May 2023, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
