Missouri's unemployment rate inched up in July on a month-over-month basis, according to the latest state data.
The state's unemployment rate last month was 2.7%, up from 2.6% in June, according to a news release from the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center. The data is seasonally adjusted.
The latest rate is on par with January, according to past reporting.
During July, Missouri's nonfarm payroll ranks rose by 6,900 jobs compared with June, according to the release.
Increases included 3,900 jobs in private education and health services and 1,800 in trade, transportation and utilities, partially offset by decreases in industries such as business services, down 800, and information, down 100.
Downtown problems partly a product of perception, officials say.
