Medicaid spending by states accelerates to over $2T

U.S. states this year spent more than $2 trillion on Medicaid, marking the first time that level of spending has been reached, according to the National Association of State Budget Officers.

The association indicated the 4.8 percent increase in spending was brought on by more dollars given to Medicaid.

According to the report, more than half of the growth in state spending is attributed to Medicaid.
