Global hotel chain InterContinental Hotels Group announced 1,200 of its U.S. franchised hotels were involved in a three-month cyber attack.
The attack on brands including Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza was designed to steal customer payment card data. InterContinental Hotels officials declined to say how many payment cards were stolen.
The attack is the latest in a string targeting hospitality companies. Hyatt Hotels Corp, Hilton, and Starwood Hotels, now owned by Marriott International Inc., also have been attacked.
