Hawley seeks criminal sanctions against Backpage.com

Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley yesterday announced his office filed a motion seeking criminal sanctions against Backpage.com.

In recent guilty pleas, Backpage officials admitted to knowingly engaging in human trafficking and money laundering.

Hawley's motion seeks criminal sanctions beyond what Backpage has already received. That includes the creation of a restitution fund for the website's victims.
