Project description: Springfield-Greene County Library District Community Relations Director Kathleen O’Dell said the project is a complete renovation and adds 1,500 square feet at the library branch. The original structure was completed in the 1970s with an addition in the 1990s, said Jim Schmidt, the district’s associate director. The design reallocates space from the removal of an old boiler and reclaims areas used for the business side of the library before computerization eliminated the need for record-keeping space, O’Dell said. It will add 10 parking spaces, a drive-up book drop and drive-thru service window. The branch was renamed in recognition of Springfieldian Jewell Schweitzer’s $1.2 million donation.
